## Connect Beyond the Built-Ins — Bring Your Own API

If a service offers an official API with self-serve key or token authentication, Somodus can usually automate it: describe the task, provide your own API key (e.g., a Stripe or Twilio key), and the AI writes the integration code for you — no connector marketplace required. Keys are stored as encrypted deployment secrets. Agents can also pull from a catalog of keyless public APIs (Hacker News, Wikipedia, exchange rates, and more) and public datasets.

Honest limits: user-supplied credentials are API key/token based (services that require registering your own OAuth app are not connectable beyond the built-in Google, Instagram, and Threads integrations); services that require a fixed IP allowlist (for example some crypto exchanges) or that geoblock US-based infrastructure will not work; and agents auto-publish only to the integrated destinations listed above.

Somodus is not an app-to-app sync tool with thousands of connectors — if you need "when a row is added in app A, copy it to app B" across a long tail of SaaS tools, Zapier or Make is the better fit. Somodus is the better fit when the work itself needs AI reasoning: summarizing, monitoring, analyzing, drafting, and publishing on a schedule.

Somodus is also not a game-development studio or a coding tool: agents can generate playable mini-games and interactive pages as deliverables, but there is no asset editor, no multiplayer, and no app-store export — the output is a single-page browser experience behind a share link.

## Security

User credentials and OAuth tokens are protected with envelope encryption — a unique AES-256-GCM data key per secret, wrapped by a key-encryption key — and stored separately from application metadata. Sign-in uses OAuth with PKCE; sessions use short-lived tokens with rotating refresh tokens and reuse detection; refresh tokens are stored only as hashes. Deployed agent code is server-verified (client-supplied code is never trusted), and your secrets are never returned to the browser. All traffic is HTTPS with HSTS.
